I got these boots last year for backpacking and hiking. The GoreTex upper is very effective and hasn't leaked at all even when hiking through small creeks and ankle high mud. The traction is excellent in a lot of different conditions. I do a lot of backpacking trips in the Lake Tahoe area where the trails have a lot of granite and loose rocks and the boots haven't worn down faster than normal. My critique of the boots are the insoles. They are very thin with no arch support. The foot-beds of the boots seemed to rotate my ankles inward which caused me a lot of knee pain especially descending. I replaced the insoles after a few hikes and the pain stopped immediately.
This boot has all the support of a boot but in the comfort of a shoe, it's amazing. I wondered how the goretex would keep my feet dry yet let them breath comfortably. Well, UA, you did it somehow. I've only been through small puddles and mid-80 temps, but my toes are dry and my feet aren't sweating, THANK YOU! My only concern has been the outer sole of the shoe. One of the strong twigs in the brush that I've hiked thru has been able to penatrate the sole. It's superficial but I hope it holds up over time.
I have had these boots for almost a year. I absolutely love them. I cannot say enough positive comments about them. From the moment I took them out of the box to my last hike they have been the most comfortable, lightweight, durable, waterproof and breathable boots that I have ever owned. My family and I are avid hikers. We hiked in Yellowstone and Grand Teton this past summer and go on weekly hikes near our house. I just finished a 5 mile hike in slushy, melting snow, mud and deep puddles. My feet remained 100% dry. I had outstanding traction in the mud and snow. During the summer the boots lightweight and breathable design allows my feet to stay cool and comfortable. They are just about perfect. The only area I would not probably use them would be in super cold snowy weather as they are not insulated. But today there was plenty of snow on the trail and with a thin wool sock, my feet were plenty warm. Oh and just bought a pair of the women's version for my wife!
The boots are lightweight and comfortable, but my biggest qualm is with the sound I get when walking. It sounds like I am walking on crumpled up newspaper each step I take. What is with these insoles? I thought the sound would fade as I continued to wear them, but nothing has changed yet.
Used this boots casual less 1 month, but mesh begin to rip. Very dissapoinment in UA shoes. For that price ugly quality. Not reccomended to buy.
These shoes although pricey are worth every penny. For starters they have excellent grip. You're not going to slip wearing these unless you're on ice. They also are extremely comfortable for being high tops. The section that goes around your leg is very soft and flexible and even comfortable with low cut socks. I wear these for work and often have to trek through snow covered sidewalks and they keep out all moisture. They will not protect you from getting cold feet however they are insulated enough that you won't be freezing either. I'd much rather wear these for shoveling snow then actually throwing on bulky snow boots. These may as well be tennis shoes. They are that comfortable especially after you break them in. My nephew who is 12 years old said he thought they were really cool too.
Just got these new a fewvdays ago and almost ready to sleep in them, they are so comfortable. I walk nyc streets and yesterday did 12 miles through mud puddles and assorted messes. Never have my feet get so good and stayed so dry but you can feel the gore tex breathing. The best I've ever owned. Thanks
I just bought these for a trip to Haiti immediately following Hurricane Matthew. My trip was to small, remote mountain villages, so I wanted a comfortable, durable, waterproof hiking boot. These hikers succeeded! My feet stayed dry and comfortable while the other 10 in my group had wet, blistered feet. A few others in the group tried these on and immediately became unhappy with their hikers! We hiked a lot and through very rocky and sometimes wet terrain and these held up extremely well. I also used these for a jog in the mountains one morning and they were better than my trail running shoes in those conditions. I'm saying goodbye to my Vasque hikers and sticking with Under Armour Gore-Tex hikers from now on!
Just purchased these super sharp looking boots and love them! They are extremely comfortable. I wear a size 13 wide and bought these in a size 14 and they fit perfectly. I even wore them to a Washington Nationals Baseball Game in torrential rain last week and my feet stayed dry!
These were comfortable from the first time I put them on and the traction was excellent until the tread wore down, which happened much too soon.
I primarily hike groomed trails in the desert southwest and found the ankle support to be satisfactory. I can't speak to waterprofing as it is mostly dry in these parts. But the longevity of the soul is a major drawback. Inside of a month the souls were showing wear to the point of loosing the nubs and in less than two months the foot strike and heel area are void of traction all together.
At the price point of this boot, I would have hoped for longer durability.
