Fantastic tights for Toronto winters.

I purchased these running tights to walk my son to school in the Toronto winter. I have tested these tights, with the base layer 4 tights underneath in -21 Celsius with windchill of -38 and they held up. The sizing of these pants is true to the measurement chart. So as long as you measure your body and don’t vanity size, they will fit like a glove. They are extremely comfortable and a very flattering fit. The material is very thin, but they stop the wind, not the cold, but by stopping the wind this cuts out a lot of the cold. With the base layer 4 underneather they still fit perfectly. In -21 with windchill of -38, my legs after 40 mins walking felt cold on the thighs, but not bad, and fine everywhere else. If I was running I would have been warm.

Tights for Serious Runners

These tights are all about function - if you are one of us who get outside at 5am to run (who cares about looks?), you will appreciate these. You do your squats at the gym, not on the road or trail. Zoom in on the pics of the model and tilt your monitor so that you can see the seams well. The Windstopper fabric is in panels in key locations. In the front, from the bottom of the waistband down the quads a way, then pick back up below the knee to the hem. In the back, from the bottom of the waistband down the hamstrings a way, then again below the knee to the hem. This is important because the Windstopper fabric doesn't really stretch. Between the Windstopper panels, then, is stretchy material. This allows the knees to freely bend and also allows the inner thighs to breathe. On a chilly day, these will be fine alone. On truly cold days, you'll probably wear fleece over them, and or maybe another pair of tights. Go by the size chart, not the "true fit" modeling, and order according to your measurements. I like a snug-fitting tight, so ordered both an XS and a S (my measurements are S on the size chart but I often prefer an XS.) Because the Windstopper fabric isn't stretchy, the XS was too binding to hit a good stride. The S was just right. The zippers are needed at the ankles and the zipper pull stays up nicely, so they won't be a bother while you run. I'm undecided about one thing - that the Windstopper fabric doesn't cover more of the quads and hamstrings particularly on the sides. However, this may be necessary to ensure full freedom of movement. Also note the fabric is lightweight, as the description states, but there is no visible hex pattern. Overall I like these tights and will be keeping the size S. I recommend them to serious runners who want to extend their outdoor running season.

Runs small and seams don’t stretch enough

I ordered small based on the “true size estimate” and the size chart but they were too small to wear for exercising in any way. The seams cut in on the thighs way too much when sitting or squatting, which is highly annoying. I plan to utilize these for outdoor hockey and hiking so they need to move better. I am exchanging for one size up so I hope this is not still a problem!
