The nose wire habitually fails to hold its shape and then my glasses get steamed up. The mask I made with a craft pipe cleaner in it works a lot better. I was hoping for an effective product and instead it doesn't make until break time.
I bought two Sportsmasks pre-order. I like how they fit and breath for my runs. However, the metal rod on one of them already broke in two places in less than a month of light use and renders the it almost useless as I can't get the mask to stay on my nose while running. One the second mask, the end of the rod is poking through the fabric. For the price, I would like these to last a little longer.
I purchased this mask in the hopes that it would be easier to breath with while exercising. My needs are for the gym where I do mostly free weights. Mask stays on for about an hour.
I do not have a lot of masks to compare to but this one does breath better than the other ones I have. It is reasonably comfortable though the back of my ears can get a little sore after an hour of wear but that is something I also experience with other masks. I have no problem speaking with this mask, it stays put.
As other reviewers mentioned, the fabric holding the mask on is a little thin and may eventually give up the ghost but then again, pretty much any mask has this potential fail point.
I sized down base on measurements as another reviewer recommended and for me, works. I believe anyone that has a problem with it not staying on probably needs to try a smaller size though it may put more pressure on the back of the ears. YMMV
I bought this mask specifically because other fabric masks suck onto my mouth when I'm breathing heavily. Not only does this one do that (albeit less so than strictly cloth maks), it's still a VERY hot mask! I had hoped both of those problems would go away. This mask is def more structured than normal fabric masks, but if you're breathing hard enough, yes, it will suck back onto your mouth.
After two months of occasional use, the nose piece broke in two. It’s breathable and stylish so it’s disappointing that the mask is not durable.
Not worth it. Makes my face SUPER sweaty and hot, not as breathable as the disposable masks.
After reviewing all the negative reviews I was hesitant to purchase, I decided to take a chance and make my own decision and I’m glad I did. I don’t understand all the negative reviews at all. It works great for me. I work out 4 days a week and this is the best mask I have purchase by far. I highly recommend.
Disappointed with neck gaiters and various other styles of masks, I purchased this to wear while playing soccer (and be in accordance with the local safety protocols). At the price point and with the UA brand behind it, I expected a significant improvement. The mask fit well and was comfortable. However, during my first outing, the mask quickly wetted with sweat and ended up being a soggy mess on my face no different than any other mask I have tried. At the end of the day, exercising in a mask is a major design challenge. Unfortunately, UA is not up to the task with their solution. Put your money toward a box of disposable masks instead.
I am a group fitness instructor - we can now teach indoors but must wear a mask. Every mask I have tried previously would suck into my face with every hard breath or move around a lot. This one works (the best a mask can with working out, anyway)! It took a few minutes to get used to, but it basically stays in place, even during some high intensity moves, but had a little bit of movement when I am talking loudly to class participants. It is comfortable and fitted without being too tight or irritating. Based on the measurements, I got a XS/S - which fits but I may try the next size up due to having to sometimes coach/talk a lot. My husband got one too (works in food service industry and must wear a mask ~8 hours a day) and loves his too - even works with his facial hair!
I was right in-between S/M and M/L (why not just say S and M?), with a nose-to-ear measurement of 5 15/16”, total width 7⅞”, and nose-to-chin 6¾”. My head circumference, as measured around my forehead, is 22¼”. I ordered both S/M and M/L, and tried the S/M first. It was still too big! The mask barely touches my nose and mouth, and if I speak more than a few words, it ends up around my chin.
My suggestion for anyone who encounters sizing issues with face masks is to buy a set of “ear savers” or “extender hooks.” Those are very cheap and definitely worth a try. In my case, they have corrected nearly every fit/sizing issue with masks that were slightly too big and/or didn’t stay in place.
As for the mask itself, I’m a bit torn. It seems the proper way to wear it is to have it press flush against your skin/mouth, which is closer than I’d prefer for my masks. Even so, it is quite breathable, though I have yet to perform any strenuous activities in it due to injury.
The metal strip for the nose/cheeks is garbage. It’s very thin and soft, and doesn’t hold its shape at all. The ear loops also feel flimsy; I think they need some elasticity. I get the feeling they will snap after prolonged use, especially since you have to pull the mask taut against your face to hold it in place.
Overall, this is an expensive purchase for a mask that doesn’t fit better or feel more comfortable than other masks; there are also a great number of unknowns about its antimicrobial properties.
