These shoes are really nice. Very comfortable on both short and long runs. Only complaint is that the soles are wearing out quickly. At around 75 miles there was noticeable wear. The photos attached are at 150 miles and the sole is worn down to the plate. I have seen another review where the wear pattern is very similar so it appears as though this is a common issue. This shoe has only been worn on roads and tracks. It was an expensive shoe and I enjoy all the features but I do not think that I would re-purchase based on the wear amount and only halfway through the usual life of a running shoe.
The Hovr Machinas were gifted to me by UA. They have been a game-changed for my long runs, threshold and speed work. Paired with MapMyRun, the bluetooth technology provides detailed data and real-time feedback so I can make changes right in the middle of a run. They are super comfy and lightweight, while still sturdy to minimize ground-reaction forces, like I'm being propelled forward with every step. Highly recommend!
Was really looking forward to getting these shoes, and to start of I was very impressed, they where very comfortable and really liked the built in blue tooth.
But after around 125 miles I noticed that the soles had completely worn through, the right shoe became noisy and the Bluetooth became inaccurate, for the price of these I expected them to last a lot longer, was a shame because I really was impressed to start of with, will not be buying these again.
Have noticed that a few other reviews have reported similar problems.
I have two pairs of these sneakers. The cushioning is great as I have primarily been using the sonic series for a while now and wanted a little more cushioning while I recover from a back injury. I have 80 miles on one pair and 30 on the other of the Machina shoes I have and both of them are having serious durablility problems with the forefoot sole. On the pair with 80 miles on them I am almost through the sole onto the plate which is extremely disappointing for the price of the shoe. I will be lucky if I get to 100 miles on them without going through the rubber and I have only run in them 4 times the rest is walking. I have gotten over 300 miles on my other pairs of Sonic 2s without coming anywhere near the wear level I have already on these. I will definitely not be buying this pair of sneakers again. I will be switching back to the Sonic series and hoping the new version of those do not use the same rubber on them.
I really appreciate the technical advancements of these shoes.
They provide a lot of "return" from my plant. I look forward to running in them every day.
Shoes are not comfortable at all. Thight from front side even I bought one number larger than my foot size.
These were my second set of HOVR connected shoes I've used. The Phantoms were a great pair ended up getting 378 miles out of them before they had to be retired. The Phantoms seemed to be a little narrow in the toe box. With this pair the toe box was spot on the width, however I have gotten pretty bad case of runners toe after switching. I really like the comfort and weight of these shoes. I haven't really noticed a difference with PEBAX insert. I will be buying a second pair of these in a half size larger.
I've been running in UA shoes for about 3 years now and have been in Infinites for awhile. I decided to change it up and try out the Machina. They were very stiff at first but figured a couple miles and they would loosen up. They did after about 20 miles but at 30-40 miles my right shin began to have major pain that I had not experienced. I switched back to my Infinite and had no issues. Gave these a try again and immediately had the pain.
I had read great reviews on these but they just did not work for my feet. I'll stick to my Infinite.
Will the RED color shoe be released in a size 7???
Best running shoes I had so far, very confy and good performance.
